EAGALA Presents to Dept of Defense - DCoE

Date:
7/13/09

EAGALA had the opportunity to present on July 13, 2009 in Washington, D.C. to the Dept of Defense - Defense Centers of Excellence (DCoE) which is the primary agency in the DOD focusing on psychological health and traumatic brain injury issues.

We had one hour to present to 17 attendees from the DCoE.  EAGALA had a great team to present - Lynn Thomas, Founder and Executive Director of EAGALA who presented on what EAGALA is and the objectives of our being there and the possibilities (future objectives).  Dr. Joe Lancia, Psychiatrist, EAGALA Advanced Certified, and author of Taming the Wild Horse: Using EAP in Assisting the Transition from Combat Soldier to Civilian (available through EAGALA) presented on EAP and stories on how this has been effective with the warrior population.  Dr. Paul Haefner, Chair of EAGALA's Research Committee, presented on research in the industry  (a primary focus for the attendees), and Jennifer Kozel, Chair of EAGALA's Military Task Force, who was invaluable in getting this meeting arranged and putting together our wonderful powerpoint, provided statistics and presented on her Life-Nav program.

EAGALA made some good connections at this meeting where we will continue to follow up in educating the various agencies of the military regarding this powerful modality and continuing to develop relationships with advocates to promote and fund these services for our warriors and their families as well as support research funding.  We will keep you updated!

You can check out the powerpoint and other resources we provided at this meeting in the Members Only Resources section of the Community website, including a brochure you can download and print off for your own grassroots promotional efforts in serving the military population.
